New Zealand Residence Visa
Potential migrants who want to live in New Zealand permanently must first obtain a residence class visa entitling them to live, study and work indefinitely in New Zealand. There are various residence categories and the requirements you will need to meet to live in New Zealand as a resident.
New Zealand Work Visa
A work visa allows you to work in New Zealand for a limited amount of time. You can apply for a work visa before travelling to New Zealand. A work visa granted offshore will allow you to travel to the New Zealand border.
New Zealand Student Visa
Most overseas students need a visa to study full-time in New Zealand. You can apply for a student visa before travelling to New Zealand. A student visa granted offshore will allow you to travel to the New Zealand border. When you arrive, an officer will check that you meet all of the conditions of your visa to be granted entry permission to study in New Zealand.
New Zealand Visitor Visas
A visitor visa does not allow you to work in New Zealand. It allows you to stay in New Zealand as a visitor for a limited amount of time. A visitor visa allows a person to travel to the New Zealand border and, if they are granted permission to enter, it allows them to remain in the country.
New Zealand Business Visas
Business and investor visas allow people who can contribute to New Zealand’s economy to live in New Zealand. You can do this by investing in New Zealand business or government, or if you have the right business experience, by buying or setting-up your own business in New Zealand (NZ).
Appeals to the Immigration and Protection Tribunal
The Immigration and Protection Tribunal (IPT) has the power to assess certain decisions made by INZ and if they disagree to on a residence application they can even overturn these decisions.
Section 61
If you are unlawfully in New Zealand (NZ) you are under a legal obligation to leave. The longer you remain, the higher the risk you run of being deported and of being declined visas in the future.
Evaluation of overseas qualifications
If you plan to migrate to New Zealand and require an IQA for your visa application to Immigration New Zealand, you need your qualification to be recognised by New Zealand Qualification Authority. This includes Skilled Migrant Category, Long Term Skill Shortage, and Essential Skills visa.
